State Chairman of IPAC, FELIX OBUAH said the group was disappointed by the news of the rerun suspension.
OBUAH, who doubles as the State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, the Independent National Electoral Commission made the decision arbitrarily.
He said INEC should have consulted all political parties and informed them why the elections should not go on as planned.
FELIX OBUAH said INEC’s unilateral decision was suspicious, adding that it shows that Nigeria’s Democracy was on trial by an electoral body that ought to be an unbiased umpire.
OBUAH said Rivers State has been relatively peaceful, with the residents carrying on with their businesses without incidence of skirmishes in any part of the State as claimed.
He said Rivers State can rightly be described as a safe haven when compared to other states where elections and re-run elections have been conducted by INEC.
