Alesa Community Raises Alarm Over Fresh Shootings on Disputed Lands

The Community Development Committee Chairman of Alesa in Eleme Local Government Area, Joseph Osarojiji, has raised concerns over renewed violence on disputed lands, alleging that armed youths have resumed attacks in the area.

Osarojiji said the persistent insecurity has prevented residents, particularly women, from accessing their farmlands, thereby threatening livelihoods and food production.

He appealed to the military, police, and the Department of State Services to deploy personnel directly to the affected communities rather than concentrating security operatives around the refinery.

While commending the Chairman of Eleme Local Government for efforts to restore peace, Osarojiji also urged stakeholders to caution individuals making inflammatory statements capable of escalating tensions between Alesa and neighbouring Okrika communities.
