The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations has suspended ticket sales just hours after officially launching them on Thursday.
The committee said demand far exceeded the system’s capacity as fans from across Africa and beyond rushed to secure tickets for the tournament scheduled for next year. The surge reportedly caused technical issues on the online platform, forcing an immediate halt.
“The passion for African football is unmatched, and the interest we’ve seen today is a testament to that,” the LOC said in a statement. “We are working swiftly to upgrade our systems and ensure that fans can purchase tickets smoothly when sales resume.”
The committee assured that a new date for the resumption of ticket sales will be announced soon, with upgraded infrastructure in place to handle the massive demand.
