ADC Warns of Constitutional Crisis Over Rivers 2026 Budget Delay

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has criticised what it described as the slow pace of governance in the state, warning that a looming constitutional crisis could disrupt public spending.

Speaking with our correspondent, the State Chairman of the party, Chukwudi Dimkpa, lamented that governance, administration and development activities across Rivers State have remained largely stagnant due to what he termed a collapse of institutional governance.

Dimkpa said the ADC would continue to acknowledge policies it considers beneficial while constructively criticising areas that require improvement.

The ADC chairman expressed particular concern over Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s failure to formally present the 2026 Appropriation Bill to the Rivers State House of Assembly.

According to him, the six-month constitutional window that allows the executive to operate without a newly approved budget expired on June 30, raising concerns about the legality of further public expenditure if the budget impasse is not resolved.
