ADC Urges Voters to Remain at Polling Units Until Results Are Uploaded

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has urged Nigerians to remain at their polling units after casting their ballots during the 2027 general elections to ensure votes are counted and uploaded before leaving.

The National Deputy Chairman of the ADC for the South-South and party leader in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State, Oha Andrew Uchendu, made the call during the Ibaa Ward Six reconciliation and mobilisation meeting. Represented by Okpowhor Chukwudi, Uchendu said the party had adopted the strategy to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process and prevent the manipulation of results.

He also encouraged eligible voters to take advantage of the two-week extension of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration exercise, describing voter registration as crucial to the party’s success in the 2027 elections.

Uchendu expressed confidence that the 2027 general election would be free and fair and urged Nigerians to vote according to their conscience, taking into account the country’s economic and security challenges.

Speaking at the meeting, the ADC Chairman of Ibaa Ward Six, Udokama Ementu, dismissed fears of widespread election rigging, insisting that no individual could manipulate an election without the support of the people. He also praised the contributions of the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rotimi Amaechi, to the development of Rivers State and Nigeria.

Other stakeholders from Ibaa, including Fyneman Ohoka, Minister Franklyn Obodo, and Wamesi Egbune, expressed confidence in the party’s growing support in the area. They argued that the current APC-led administration had failed to fulfil its campaign promises and described Amaechi’s emergence as the ADC’s vice-presidential candidate as a renewed source of hope for Nigerians.
