The African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Rivers State has raised concerns over the alleged incessant redeployment of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Electoral Officers across the state’s 23 local government areas.
The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Chizy Enyi, made the allegations during a media briefing at the ADC Secretariat on Woji Road, GRA, Port Harcourt.
Enyi accused the leadership of the Rainbow Coalition of allegedly masterminding the redeployment and urged INEC to uphold neutrality and transparency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He also called on the Commission to ensure that election results are announced at polling units.
The ADC urged the INEC Chairman, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Rivers State and relevant National Commissioners to urgently clarify the circumstances surrounding the recent redeployment of Electoral Officers in the state.
The party claimed that the transfers were unconstitutional.
Enyi also alleged a plot to compromise the recruitment of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 general elections in Rivers State.
He called for an investigation into allegations involving a person identified as Uju and alleged arrangements concerning the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area.
The ADC said it would support every lawful measure taken by INEC to strengthen the integrity of the electoral process.
The party, however, said it would not wait until after the election to raise questions that should be addressed before the polls.
It therefore called on civil society organisations, the media, religious and professional bodies, election observers and other democratic institutions to closely monitor preparations for the 2027 general elections in Rivers State.
