Abe, PDP bicker over political violence in Rivers

Suspected hired thugs had yesterday, invaded the venue of a meeting of SDP members in Oyigbo, destroyed properties before blocking the boundary between Tai and Oyigbo Local Government Areas and prevented senator Abe and his entourage from accessing the area.

Speaking to newsmen in Port Harcourt, Senator Abe said his supporters have been harassed in different local government and communities, which he said is strange to democratic system.

The former senator however encouraged his supporters not to be deterred by the incident.

When contacted, the state Chairman of the PDP, Desmond Akawor denied any involvement in the attack on the SDP governorship candidate and his supporters, insisting that the senator is his friend that should have informed him of his trip to his place.
