The Kaduna State Governor, NASIR EL-RUFAI has freed nine prisoners serving various jail terms in the spirit of Nigeria’s Fifty-Fifth Independence anniversary.

The Kaduna State Governor, NASIR EL-RUFAI has  freed nine  prisoners serving various jail terms in the spirit of Nigeria’s Fifty-Fifth Independence anniversary.
Governor EL-RUFAI said five other prisoners had their death sentences converted to various prison terms.
The governor made the announcement during a parade at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna state.
He said the gesture to extend mercy to prisoners was in line with the powers vested on him by the the Nigerian constitution on prerogative of mercy.
