Troops of the Joint Task Force code-named Operation Pulo Shield have seized two point three million litres of allegedly stolen diesel, worth over three million naira from a bunkering site in Rivers state. The petroleum product is alleged to have been siphoned from pipelines belonging to the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC. The Commander of the Joint Task Force, Major General ALANI OKUNLOLA, disclosed this to newsmen at Tamunotonye-Ama in Ogu-Bolo Local Government Area of Rivers. Major General OKUNLOLA said two suspected oil thieves were arrested at the site, while several equipment used by the operators were seized during the raid.
The Army Chief said investigation of the illegal oil activities has begun; adding that barges used by the suspected oil thieves have been towed to Ogoloma Jetty in Okirika Local Government Area of Rivers.
