The Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State has dismissed reports of a libel lawsuit against it by former governor, ROTIMI AMEACHI as diversionary. AMAECHI had in a statement released by his Media Office informed that it was seeking three hundred billion naira in general damages against the PDP, its Chairman FELIX OBUAH and two others for alleged defamation of his character.
In his reaction to the report; State Chairman of the PDP, FELIX OBUAH said he would not join issued with the former governor until he makes real his boast by serving the court processes of the suit on the PDP and those he claimed to have sued. FELIX OBUAH noted in a statement by his media assistant that the PDP would not be discouraged by threat of litigation neither will it be intimidated by anybody. He said the lawsuit by Amaechi would offer the party the opportunity to expose to the world the atrocities committed by the former Governor.
Also, the Assistant Publicity Secretary of the PDP, SAM WONOSIKE said the suit filed by former Governor AMAECHI will not deter the State Government from enforcing the resolution of the Justice GEORGE OMEREJI-led Commission.
