A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has set aside 21st and 22nd of October for the commencement of criminal trial of former governor of Jigawa State, SULE LAMIDO and two of his sons. Justice ADENIYI ADEMOLA fixed the dates after LAMIDO and his sons, AMINU and MUSTAPHA, were arraigned alongside AMINU WADA ABUBAKAR and BATHOLOMEW DARLINGTON AGOHA. All five individuals are facing a 27-count amended charge of corruption and money laundering brought against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. According to a statement released by EFCC spokesman, WILSON UWUJAREN, the former governor of Jigawa State and his sons are accused of diverting two hundred million naira meant for the state into various accounts of different private companies. The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the charges, which cleared the way for the presiding judge to set a date for trial.
