A newborn baby, apparently a day old, has been found abandoned along Enika- Igwuruta road in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

A newborn baby, apparently a day old, has been found abandoned along Enika- Igwuruta road in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State. Our correspondent reports that the baby was wrapped in a white cloth and left inside a carton by the roadside.
A senior police officer told our correspondent that before police were mobilized to the scene; an unidentified woman had reached there earlier in a Sienna car and took the child away. According to the police officer, the mysterious woman claimed to know the mother of the abandoned newborn. However; another set of people claiming to be the parents of the real mother arrived at the scene to recover the baby but the mysterious woman in Sienna car had already left with the child. The matter is currently under investigation at the Igwuruta police station.
