REC adopt report of Commission of Inquiry over violence that aborted legislative rerun on 19th of March.

The State Government also adopted the recommendations in the report by the Justice MONIMA DANAGOGO-led inquiry for the prosecution of some persons indicted in the inquiry, who are mainly chieftains of the All Progressives Congress in the state.

The Commissioner of Information and Communications, AUSTIN TAM-GEORGE said the State Executive Council directed the Attorney-General to file murder charges the 2015 APC governorship running mate, Honourable ASITA OKORIE.

AUSTIN TAM-GEORGE said ASITA is to be prosecuted in connection with the death of an NYSC member who was gunned down at Akinima in Ahoada West Local Government Area during the rerun legislative elections.

The Council also directed the Attorney General of to prosecute APC chieftain, BARRY MPIGI for the murder of a pregnant woman identifies as BABY NZUUGA at Kpite in Tai Local Government Area.

 Also to be prosecuted based on the recommendation by the Commission of Inquiry is one THANKGOD ODE who is accused of attempted murder at Ogonokom in Abua Odual Local Government Area.

The Commissioner said State Executive Council also accepted the recommendation of the Commission of Inquiry which indicted the Nigerian Army for various acts of violence ranging from assault through malicious destruction of property to murder. 

 

The action on the report of the Commission of Inquiry is coming exactly seven months after Governor NYESOM WIKE constituted the panel on the 16th of April and about five months after the report was submitted.
