The Senate ad hoc committee is to ascertain the amount of fund that has been released through the Presidential Initiative on the North East and how such monies were spent.
Senate also resolved to investigate the diversion of grains and other food items from the strategic reserves.
Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the resolution was based on a motion during plenary, which was sponsored by Senator BABA KAKA from Borno Central and seventeen others.
Senator KAKA alleged that rather than use the money appropriated to ameliorate the problems of Internally Displaced Persons and the North East, the funds had been used for other purposes.
The Borno State senator cited examples in the award of an eighty point seven million naira for the rehabilitation of a Police Station at Kwambir.
In his remarks, Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI charged the committee to do a thorough job.
Meanwhile; all the Senators pledged to donate three hundred thousand naira each to support the suffering people in IDPs in the North-East.
