Benue Government Denies Blocking Peter Obi From Yelewata

The Benue State Government has denied allegations by the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, Peter Obi, that thugs allegedly working for the state government blocked him from accessing Yelewata community in the state.

Obi had alleged that his convoy encountered thugs who mounted a roadblock on the Makurdi-Gboko Federal Highway while he was travelling to Yelewata to sympathise with families affected by the 2025 attacks.

However, the state government, in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, denied any involvement in the incident.

The government described Obi’s allegation as unfounded, insisting that it had no role in the reported obstruction of his convoy.

The development has sparked renewed debate over the circumstances surrounding the incident and access to communities affected by the 2025 attacks.
