A Port Harcourt-based legal practitioner, Bright Firibeb, has cautioned against the spread of false information concerning the ongoing court case involving the leader of the Conscience of Ogoni People, Chief Gani Topba.
Firibeb, who spoke in an interview with Today FM correspondent, said misinformation about the trial could create unnecessary tension, cause commotion and potentially trigger a crisis in the state.
He expressed confidence that Topba would emerge victorious at the end of the legal proceedings.
Firibeb also reminded the people of Ogoniland that Gani Topba has been at the forefront of the fight against insecurity and bad governance in the area.
The case is scheduled for hearing today, Monday, August 31, 2026, at the Federal High Court sitting in Port Harcourt.
