Delta Police Rescue Human Trafficking Victim, Arrest Suspect

The Delta State Police Command has rescued a 25-year-old victim of human trafficking and arrested a 26-year-old woman allegedly involved in trafficking young women to Côte d’Ivoire under the pretext of providing vocational training.

In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Bright Edafe, said the suspect, identified as Ese Betty Isiorho, was arrested by operatives of the Effurun Area Command following a petition alleging that she deceived the victim with a promise of hairdressing training in Côte d’Ivoire.

According to the police, investigations revealed that after arriving in the foreign country, the victim was allegedly forced into prostitution.

The command said investigations are ongoing as efforts continue to combat human trafficking and bring all those involved in the crime to justice.
