A Rivers State High Court sitting in Degema has restrained the Government-Recognized Amadabo of Bakana, Lawrence Odum, and the Bakana Land Committee from further trespassing on disputed community lands.
Justice B. S. Kokpan issued the order after hearing submissions from counsel to the claimants, I. F. Igbikikuno, and counsel for the defendants, D. L. Dokubo, in a suit filed by the Heads and Chiefs of the Odum Barboy Group of Chieftaincy Houses of Bakana, who are also challenging the recognition of Lawrence Odum as the Amadabo of Bakana.
The court barred the defendants and their agents from carrying out any allocation, survey, demarcation or development on the disputed lands pending further orders. Justice Kokpan ruled that the order takes immediate effect and adjourned the case until October 15, 2026, for a pre-trial conference.
