FCT Declares Work-Free Day, Restricts Movement Ahead of Area Council Elections

Ahead of the February 21 Area Council elections in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, has declared a work-free day and announced a restriction of movement across the territory.

Wike made the announcement during a special broadcast aired on national television and radio stations, stating that movement would be restricted from 8:00 p.m. on Friday to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.

He urged residents of the FCT to come out en masse to exercise their civic responsibility by voting for candidates of their choice in the elections.

The minister explained that the measures were put in place to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the polls across the six Area Councils.
