President Tinubu Departs Lagos for Europe Ahead of Official UAE Visit

President Bola Tinubu has departed Lagos for Europe to continue his end-of-year break, ahead of an official trip to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Sunday. According to Onanuga, the European visit forms part of the President’s personal rest period while also allowing him to prepare for his forthcoming diplomatic engagement in Abu Dhabi.

The statement did not specify the exact countries Tinubu would visit in Europe or the duration of his stay, but it emphasized that the trip is both a personal and preparatory engagement ahead of Nigeria’s official representation in the UAE.

Observers note that President Tinubu’s visit to Abu Dhabi is expected to strengthen bilateral ties, particularly in areas of economic cooperation, investment, and regional security, reflecting Nigeria’s growing diplomatic and strategic interests in the Gulf region.

This marks one of the President’s first overseas engagements in the new year, following a series of domestic policy initiatives and economic programmes aimed at boosting Nigeria’s development.
