Chief Judge Directs Christmas Vacation for Rivers State High Court Judges

The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Simeon Chibuzor-Amadi, has approved the Christmas vacation for judges of the state High Court.

In a statement issued by the Chief Registrar, David Ihua-Maduenyi, the vacation will begin on Tuesday, December 23, 2025, and end on Friday, January 9, 2026. Judges are expected to resume normal court sittings on Monday, January 12, 2026.

According to the statement, the directive is in line with Order 49, Rule 4(C) of the High Court of Rivers State Civil Procedure Rules, 2023. It added that all judicial divisions of the High Court will remain closed throughout the vacation period.

However, a designated vacation judge will be available to hear only urgent applications and matters filed during the break.
