Fubara Reaffirms Support for Security Agencies in Rivers State

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening support for security agencies, describing it as a strategic investment in sustaining law and order across the state.

Speaking at Government House, Port Harcourt, during a courtesy visit by the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Idi Abbas, the governor said it is the government’s responsibility to provide the necessary backing for agencies operating in the state.

Fubara highlighted the strategic importance of Rivers State as a major hub for the nation’s crude oil distribution, stressing that collaboration with the Navy is vital to protect lives, assets and the environment.

He commended the Navy for its role in safeguarding critical infrastructure and assured continued cooperation, adding that his administration will maintain cordial relationships with security commanders to ensure effective operations.

Vice Admiral Abbas, on his part, praised the state government for its ongoing support, including the provision of gunboats and infrastructure. He noted that several key Naval training commands are located in the state, underscoring Rivers’ strategic value to national security.

He appealed for continued partnership to enhance the Navy’s operational capacity in protecting critical national assets.
