Niger Delta Youth Leaders Demand Retraction of Report Linking NDDC MD to Alleged Failed Coup

A coalition of prominent Niger Delta individuals and groups, under the aegis of Concerned Niger Delta Youth Leaders, has demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from media outlets that linked the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dr. Samuel Ogbuku, to an alleged failed coup.

In a communiqué signed by thirty-six members and read by Zoroaster Etor, the group described the report as false, malicious, and a desperate attempt to undermine the progress currently being made in the Niger Delta under Dr. Ogbuku’s leadership.

The coalition called on the media organizations responsible for the publication to issue a public apology, warning that such unverified and damaging reports could threaten peace and stability in the region.

In their separate remarks, some Niger Delta youth leaders — Lucky John, Saviour Imeabi, and Ken Michael — described Dr. Samuel Ogbuku as a man of integrity and vision whose name should not be dragged into what they termed the “mud of political greed and ambition.”
