A pensioner from Eleme has lamented missing the ongoing verification exercise organised by the Rivers State Government, citing lack of information after his radio was stolen.
While some retirees described the process as straightforward, others said travelling from rural areas outside Port Harcourt and Obio Akpor is both stressful and costly. They urged the government to consider conducting the exercise online to reduce expenses.
Human rights lawyer Higher King criticised the requirement for retirees to gather in Port Harcourt, arguing that safer and less stressful methods could be adopted to protect the well-being of senior citizens.
