Newcastle United are in advanced negotiations with Aston Villa over a deal for midfielder Jacob Ramsey, with key discussions set to take place in the next 24 hours.
The 24-year-old will meet with Villa officials before deciding on his future, as both clubs work towards an agreement described as close. Newcastle head coach Eddie Howe is reportedly eager to secure Ramsey’s signature before the transfer deadline.
If terms are agreed and Ramsey opts to leave Villa Park, he will enter talks with the Magpies over personal terms. The midfielder, who has also attracted strong interest from West Ham this summer, is believed to favour a move to St James’ Park.
Ramsey has scored 17 goals in 167 appearances for Villa since making his senior debut in 2019 and was a regular under Unai Emery last season.
Newcastle have already made two permanent signings this summer—winger Anthony Elanga from Nottingham Forest and defender Malick Thiaw from AC Milan—while goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has joined on loan from Southampton.
