The Civil Society Organization (CSO) in Rivers State has criticized the provisions of the Gazette on the state’s Emergency Rule, particularly the powers granted to the Sole Administrator to conduct local government elections.
Chairman of the CSO, Enefa Georgewill, said attempts by President Bola Tinubu to correct what he described as errors committed during the period of Emergency Rule cannot be remedied. He described the situation in Rivers State as “dictatorship.”
Georgewill said the CSO is preparing to challenge the President’s actions in court, insisting it is now clear that the declaration of a State of Emergency in the state was aimed at positioning loyalists in authority.
