24 Abducted Schoolgirls in Kebbi Regain Freedom, Tinubu Welcomes Release

The 24 schoolgirls abducted in Maga, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of Kebbi State, have regained their freedom, bringing relief to families and communities who have waited anxiously since the incident.

Their release was confirmed on Tuesday in a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. According to the statement, President Bola Tinubu expressed joy over the safe return of the children and praised the tireless efforts of security agencies working to secure their freedom.

President Tinubu, however, noted that the mission was not yet complete. He urged security operatives to intensify ongoing operations to rescue the remaining students still in captivity, assuring that his administration remains committed to ending the cycle of school kidnappings and ensuring the safety of every Nigerian child.

The President also extended sympathy to the affected families and reiterated the government’s resolve to bring the perpetrators of the abduction to justice.

The abduction, which had sparked nationwide concern, is one of several recent attacks targeting schoolchildren in northern Nigeria, prompting renewed calls for stronger security measures around educational institutions.
