The United States and Iran have announced a framework agreement aimed at restoring peace, with the deal expected to be formally signed in Switzerland on Friday.
President Donald Trump said oil exports would resume once the agreement is concluded, while Iran’s deputy foreign minister confirmed on state television that a deal had been finalised. Iran’s military leadership described the development as a victory for Tehran.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Group of Seven nations are meeting at a French lakeside resort, with the situation involving Iran expected to feature prominently in discussions.
