Officials said the refugee camp in the western Tahoua region where the attack happened is inhabited by displaced people from Mali.
The Prime Minister BRIGI RAFINI told reporters that the assailants targeted a military post near the camp.
The attack heightens the instability in northern and central Mali for nearly four years after France led a military intervention to drive out jihadists.
