The 2015 Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Rivers State, DAKUKU PETERSIDE says without doubt the future of society and indeed mankind depends on the wellbeing of young people.
PETERSIDE’s observed that Rivers State has been identified as one of the most dangerous states to live in Nigeria.
He said the rating is occasioned by the short life expectancy caused by unprecedented cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, murder and piracy amongst other crimes.
The NIMASA DG said it was never in doubt that the sordid situation in Rivers State was created and still being sustained and promoted by a state government that purportedly came into existence through the patronage of criminality.
The APC chieftain said having allegedly benefitted from crime, the state government has compromised the morality and vigour to fight crime and the result is that the State has become the Hobbesian state of nature, where life is brutish, nasty and short.
However; DALUKU PETERSIDE said his message on the occasion of the International Youth Day is that of hope to the youth.
PETERSIDE urged them not to despair or give up, stressing that those who quit cannot win and that winners do not quit.
He said when the right people take up the mantle of political leadership in Rivers State, young people would heave a sigh of relief because the perilous times of today will be quickly dumped in the abyss of history.
DAKUKU PETERSIDE urged young people in Rivers State to continue to shun violence and social vices; and to rather engage their hands and minds meaningfully to ensure a better future for themselves and the society.
