The Rivers state President of the Medical Women Association of Nigeria, VETTY AGALA gave the advice against the background of the 2020 World Cancer Day.
Speaking at an awareness campaign against cancer in Port Harcourt, AGALA encouraged women to learn self-breast screening, stressing that early screening can prevent the danger.
On his part; a clinical oncologist at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching hospital, OLUTUNDE SEGUN told correspondent ELFREDAH ALERECHI that at least five new cases of cancer are recorded on a weekly basis at the UPTH.
World Cancer Day is observed on the 4th February every year to create awareness about cancer.
The theme for this year’s event is “I am and I will”.
