The pan-Igbo social-political and cultural organization also disowned a statement credited to a suspended member of the group, in which it was claimed that the Igbos cannot abandon their investments in the north, which runs into trillions of naira.
The President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, Chief JOHN NWODO, gave this indication during an interview on a national television.
He said the current agitation for Biafra by young Igbos is as a result of the sense of intimidation and treatment as second class citizens being suffered by the South-East.
Chief NWODO observed that that the current arrangement in the country where there is no Igbo citizen at the helms of the military and security agencies indicates absolute lack of confidence on the entire Igbo tribe by the rest of Nigeria.
On the seeming backlash against the sit-at-home called by pro-Biafra agitators; the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo also demanded to know what law was violated by those who chose to mourn millions of people who died during the Nigerian-Biafra civil war.
Chief JOHN NWODO noted that the sit-at-home protest by some Igbos was an expression of their universal right to freedom of expression, which they had been denied when they tried to engage in street protests to draw attention to their plight.
