VIGILANTE GROUP OF NIGERIA SEEKS GOVERNMENT SUPPORT TO CHECK WAVE OF CRIME AND VIOLENCE IN RIVERS STATE.

State Commandant of VGN, MAMBO WALCOX following the recognition accorded the group by the Centre for Defence of Human Rights and Democracy in Africa.

MAMBO WALCOX said the major challenge facing the Vigilante Group of Nigeria is in the area of logistic for smooth running of its operations at the grassroots.

The VGN State Commandant therefore called for the support of the Rivers State Government to enable the organization actualize its full potentials in partnership with armed security agencies of government.

On his part, RHUEFE KHAESE from the Centre for Defence of Human Rights and Democracy in Africa stressed the need for grassroots security outfit like the Vigilante Group of Nigeria to be encouraged to effectively complement regular security forces like the police.

RHUEFE KHAESE also charged VGN operatives to work hard and imbibe qualities that enhance service delivery to their areas of operation.

He acknowledged that although criminality cannot be erased from society, but can be reduced through an efficient policing structure.
