NYECHE expressed regret that the State Government failed to take advantage of warnings that were made by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency about the impending disaster.
The lawmaker made her observation after undertaking an on-the-spot assessment of impacted areas within her constituency.
She also called on residents of Port Harcourt Local Government not to erect buildings on waterways and to avoid dumping refuse in drainage channels.
Meanwhile, residents of Nkpogu told our correspondent VICTOR EZEAMA that ongoing sand-filling project in the area had blocked water the drainage channels, thereby exposing their homes to flooding.
