US Ambassador NIKKI HALEY said a new resolution would also be tabled against Pyongyang at the United Nations, following Tuesday’s long-range missile test.
HALEY described the test as a sharp military escalation and also threatened to use trade restrictions against the North.
The threats came just as the US and South Korea militaries were preparing for a missile drill, which involved firing of missiles into the Sea of Japan.
However; Pyongyang has said it would not negotiate unless the US put an end to what it calls hostile policy against North Korea.
China and Russia have also opposed the use of military force.
