UNIPORT management not Approve Use of Facilities for Proposed World Igbo Day Convention

The UNIPORT Management also said it has not received any application from Ohaneze Ndigbo, the Indigenous People of Biafra or any other group to hold the World Igbo Day event within the university on Friday, 29th September, as announced in the media.
According to a statement signed by the Deputy Registrar in charge of Information, Williams Wodi, the UNIPORT Management expressed regret that those who announced the university as venue for the World Igbo Day did so without first applying and obtaining permission for use of its facilities in line with established protocol.
Williams Wodi noted that for the avoidance of doubt, the facilities of the university are purely for academic activities.
Wodi urged the general public to discountenance any announcement of the University of Port Harcourt as venue for the World Igbo Day event.
He said the university management dissociates itself from any arrangement to use its facilities for Ohaneze Ndigbo or IPOB annual convention.
The UNIPORT Management further appealed to the Rivers State Government and the Security Chiefs in the state to come to its rescue.
