United Nations regional envoy, MOHAMMED IBN CHAMBAS dropped the hint when he stopped by in the country as part of efforts to prevail on President JAMMEH to leave office at the end of his tenure on 19th January.
IBN CHAMBAS maintained that the end had come for President JAMMEH, and under no circumstances can he continue to be president.
The UN envoy said the legal process, which JAMMEH has invoked to challenge the result of the election, was separate from his mandate as president.
Meanwhile; UN Secretary General BAN KI-MOON and the United States have also urged the Gambian security forces to leave the country’s electoral commission office.
The UN scribed said the army could compromise sensitive electoral material.
