UN special envoy, STAFFAN DE MISTURA said the postponement was to solidify the ceasefire which would make the talks concrete.
DE MISTURA said the ceasefire, which took effect on 30th December, is broadly working effectively.
He said the UN also wants to give the Syrian government a chance to become seriously engaged in concessions and to give the opposition time to unify its delegation.
