The draw for the UEFA Champions League play-offs will take place today, setting the stage for the next phase of Europe’s elite club competition.
The ceremony is scheduled to hold by 11:00 a.m. at UEFA’s headquarters in Switzerland, where clubs will learn their opponents in the crucial play-off round that determines qualification for the Round of 16.
Sixteen teams will be involved in the play-offs, all battling for the remaining slots in the last 16. Among the teams vying for progression are European heavyweights such as Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Paris Saint-Germain, Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Borussia Dortmund, as well as Newcastle United.
Meanwhile, the top eight teams from the league phase — Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur, Barcelona, Chelsea, Sporting CP and Manchester City — have already secured automatic qualification for the Round of 16. However, they will have to wait until the outcome of the play-offs to know their opponents in the knockout stages.
The play-off fixtures are expected to deliver high-stakes encounters as clubs push for a place in the latter stages of the competition, with fans across Europe eagerly anticipating the match-ups that could shape the remainder of the Champions League campaign.
