Two sentenced to 15 years for child trafficking

Favour Ifeoma-Godwin who is the first defendant in the matter was sentenced to fifteen years which is to run concurrently while Ada Ogbonna-Egbere was sentenced to ten years imprisonment with hard labour which is to run consecutively.

Chief Magistrate Felicitas Amanze in her judgment discharged and acquitted the second defendant Kodirichi Nwankwo whom the court said gave birth to a boy while at the Port Harcourt correctional Facility and showed remorse during her prosecution

The Chief Magistrate found Favour Ifeoma-Godwin guilty of stealing and conspiring with Ada Ogbonna-Egbere whom the court described as chronic and pathological liar.

Today Fm’sUchendu Ejiowhor reports that Favour Ifeoma-Godwin was also found guilty of buying a four year old Emmanuel Uwana in 2018 at the sum of thirty-five thousand Naira.

Speaking to newsmen outside the courtroom, a representative of the International Federation of Female Lawyers, FIDA, Esther Achor-Korenta, said the decision of the court will serve as a lesson to others who may want to engage in such act.
