U.S. President Donald Trump has announced an immediate end to all trade negotiations with Canada, following a dispute over a recent advertisement.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the Canadian government had aired an advert featuring former U.S. President Ronald Reagan speaking negatively about tariffs.
The U.S. president recently imposed a 35% levy on Canadian imports, though he granted exemptions for goods covered under the USMCA — the free trade agreement between the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, which he originally negotiated during his first term.
