Traditional Ruler threaten legal action against Rivers State Government over withdrawal of his certificate of recognition as Paramount Ruler.

The threat was issued on behalf of Eze OWABIE by his spokesman, JOHN IHUA in reaction to the withdrawal letter signed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, SAMUEL IBEMERU.

According to the letter sighted by our correspondent, the withdrawn of the letter of recognition of Eze ANTHONY OWABIE as the Nye-Nwe Eli Rumuepirikom was approved by Governor NYESOM WIKE in line with provisions of the Rivers State Traditional Rulers Law of 2015.

However; Eze OWABIE’s spokesman described the action of the state government as unfortunate and a move that could damage the process of selecting traditional rulers in communities.

JOHN IHUA boasted that Eze ANTHONY OWABIE remains the Paramount Ruler of Rumuepirikom community, adding that the withdrawal of recognition letter was illegal and cannot stand.

It may interest you to note that Governor NYESOM WIKE is from Rumuepirikom community in Obio-Akpor.

Even before his election, Governor WIKE has been having a running battle with Eze ANTHONY OWABIE which led to the enthronement of a rival traditional ruler in the community.
