Tinubu emerged winner after securing one thousand two hundred and seventy one votes to defeat his closest rival, immediate past minister for transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who got three hundred and sixteen votes
In his acceptance speech, Tinubu expressed gratitude to other aspirants who stepped down for him as well his supporters and Governors for the victory.
The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osibanjo came with third with two hundred and thirty five votes
The senate President, Ahmed Lawan scored one hundred and fifty two votes, Kogi state Governor, Yahaya Bello got forty seven votes while, Ebonyi state Governor, Dave Umahi scored thirty eight votes.
Earlier about six presidential aspirants stepped down for the former Governor of Lagos state, Bola Tinubu, while one of the aspirants, Nicholas Felix stepped down for the Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo.
