Three Dead, Tension Heightens As Gbagyi, Hausa Youths Clash In Abuja

The clash reportedly began on Saturday and reached a peak yesterday.

According to reports, the fight began between Keke drivers, who are predominantly Hausas, and Gbagyi indigenes, after the Gbagyi asked the Hausa commercial tricycle operators to leave the area after some of them allegedly broke into a counsellor’s house to rob.

This led to a confrontation between both groups and it degenerated into violence in which people were injured, with some dying from their injuries.

The military reportedly intervened and restored order, but, after the soldiers left, the violence continued late into Saturday night and resumed yesterday morning.
