clashed with proceedings in the trial of Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI.Our correspondent, JAMES IGAH reports that the Chairman of the Tribunal, DANLADI UMAR, had suggested to give ORUBEBE’s lawyer thirty minutes to cross-examine a witness, but that did not go down well with defence team.Subsequently; ORUBEBE’s lawyer, LARRY SELEKEOWEI engaged the CCT Chairman in a shouting match in a bid to drive down his objection.
The visibly angry SELEKEOWEI argued that SARAKI’s case was not more important than that of his client, insisting that his case must be allowed to continue uninterrupted. The defence lawyer ignored the caution by the Chairman of the Tribunal to present his comment in a dignified manner, which forced the Chairman to stand down the ORUBEBE case for that of BUKOLA SARAKI.Both ORUBEBE and SARAKI are facing charges of false declaration of assets before the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The Tribunal’s Chairman had on Monday promised to speed up the consideration of the SARAKI trail, with a promise to take on the matter on a daily basis, from 10AM to 6PM, until the case is concluded.
