Deputy Senate President, IKE EKWEREMADU, made the announcement after a closed-door executive session that lasted for about two hours.
Senator EKWEREMADU took charge of the Senate business while the Senate President, BUKOLA SARAKI was attending to his trial at the Code of Conduct Tribunal. The Senator from Enugu State declared that the Red Chamber of the National Assembly also resolved to stand solidly behind Senator SARAKI in his ongoing trial before the CCT, unless he is found guilty.EKWEREMADU said senators of the Eighth National Assembly also entered a new pact to put behind them all the crises that had engulfed the chamber and for all members to withdraw pending cases in court in the spirit of the new agreement.
In the meantime; the Deputy Senate President said a twelve-man panel, comprising two legislators from each of the six geopolitical zones, has been constituted to review and resolve all outstanding issues. The Senators thereafter entered into a closed-door with Nigerian Service Chiefs to get update on the war against the Islamist Boko Haram insurgents and status of the Chibok schoolgirls who were abducted from Borno State two years ago.
