The United States has slammed a new set of sanctions on North Korea over its nuclear programme.
President BARACK OBAMA approved the measures weeks after Pyongyang launched a long-range rocket.
The sanctions are backed in a bill that was easily passed last week by the US Congress, which include cutting off money needed by North Korea to develop miniaturised nuclear warheads.It also includes freezing of the assets of anyone doing business related to North Korea’s nuclear or weapons programme or involved in human rights abuses.Meanwhile; the US is in talks with China over a United Nations Security Council resolution on new sanctions.However; China is worried that some of the measures could cripple North Korea’s economy.
