The Speaker of the Rivers state House of Assembly, IKUNYI AWAJI-IBANI claims he has not been sacked by any tribunal. AWAJI-IBANI also said all members of the House of Assembly whose election were nullified by the tribunal still remains as lawmakers of the state.
Addressing a news conference in Port Harcourt; the Speaker said the tribunal judgments that nullified the election of some members was done in error, adding that the judgments are currently being appealed. The Speaker said the whole world knows that elections held in Rivers state, adding that he has faith in the Nigerian Judicial system. The Rivers state Elections petition Tribunal on Monday nullified the election of twenty members of the State Assembly including the Speaker.
