The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that thirty-seven suspects who were arrested for various offences during the re-run legislative elections on 19th of March are facing trial in court.

The Rivers State Police Command has confirmed that thirty-seven suspects who were arrested for various offences during the re-run legislative elections on 19th of March are facing trial in court.The Police Public Relations Officer, AHMAD MUHAMMAD, said the suspects comprising thirty-five male and two female were arraigned before the Port Harcourt Magistrate’s Courts Four and Six.MUHAMMADU said the suspects were arraigned on different days on charges criminal activities and electoral offences, adding that none has been freed.The Police spokesman said the State Command was presently in consultation with relevant agencies to ensure diligent prosecution of the cases.Based on the explanation, the PPRO dismissed rumours about the release of the suspects as untrue, and urged the public to disregard such reports completely.
