The Rivers State Governorship Election Tribunal sitting in Abuja has adjourned hearing in the petition filed by the All Progressives Congress and its governorship candidate, DAKUKU PETERSIDE. The APC and its candidate are challenging the victory of Governor NYESOME WIKE in the election on 11th of April. Our Abuja correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that hearing was adjourned till today following an adjustment of the time schedule allotted to parties involved in the petition to call in witnesses. You will recall that the tribunal had allocated fourteen days to the APC to call in witnesses, while ten days were allocated to each of the three respondents. Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that the adjustment was to make up for the short time left for the completion of all election petitions.
In the meantime; the National and State Assembly Tribunal for Rivers State continued hearing on the petition filed by SAMPSON GILBERT EGOP, as the first respondent which is the Independent National Electoral Commission called in witnesses. Our correspondent JAMES IGAH reports that one of the witnesses presented was an electoral officer of INEC. That was our correspondent, JAMES IGAH reporting from Abuja.
